CO2 Tank Uses

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a colourless and odourless non-flammable gas. Due to its availability in large scale, CO2 is used for the following purposes.

The uses of CO2

  • Precursor to chemicals

In the chemical industry, CO2 is used as an ingredient in the production of urea and methanol. Various Co2 Tank uses come into play in storing the chemical.

  • Food additive

It is used as a food additive and used as a propellant and acidity regulator in the food industry. With this said, the Co2 Tank uses a much ore monitored process because of the food grade co2 in it.

  • Production of carbonated soft drinks

Co2 is used to produce carbonated drinks and soda water in the beverage industry. The larger type of Dewar Co2 tank uses, or otherwise called Bulk co2 tank uses multiple pots to connect to the soda machine and fill ports.

  • Wine making

It is used to cool clusters of grapes quickly after picking to prevent fermentation by wild yeast. Again this type of Co2 tank uses a more closely documents chain of supply record keeping to ensure the food grade co2 and co2 tank uses the proper handling.

  • Welding

Co2 is used as an atmosphere for welding since it reacts to oxidise metals. In this application, the co2 tank uses another added tank of another type of gas, typically acetylene or oxygen depending on the type of welding or cutting is underway.

  • Fire extinguisher

It is used to put off fire by flooding the area around the flame with CO2 gas. This type of co2 tank uses an easier style of handle instead of a valve, so the user can quickly squeeze, opening the valve, instead of turning a valve for longer period of time.

  • Medical industry

It is mixed with oxygen to produce an inhalable gas. Here is another instant where the co2 tank uses a more monitored delivery system and handling between fill plant and client.

  • Enhance oil recovery

It is used in enhance oil recovery where it is injected into or just adjacent to producing oil wells to increase original oil recovery. When dissolved into the underground oil, it acts as a pressurising agent, changing the viscosity of the crude oil. The co2 tank uses a pump in some instances to quickly remove large amounts of co2 liquid from multiple tanks quickly before it has a chance to expand in the line.

  • Refrigerant

Liquid and solid CO2 are used as a refrigerant, especially in the food industry and in refrigeration of ice cream and other frozen food. This method of co2 tank uses a larger bulk tank to supply liquid at low temperatures and low pressures to freeze.

  • Entertainment

CO2 is used in the entertainment industry (by the DJ, during concerts and live performance) to give CO2 special effects. In this regard, it is necessary to have a co2 tank for all your CO2 special effects. This method of co2 tank uses a large amount of co2 quickly to make the effect.

A CO2 tank is a necessity for all your CO2 stage equipment. These tanks are available in steel and aluminium materials, with the inclusion or exclusion of a siphon tube. The tanks are available in different sizes.

CryoFX offers the following CO2 tanks made of aluminium; 20lb, 35lb, 50lb and the same in steel with the addition of 75lb, 10lb, and 135lb. The tanks’ are explained in the table below;

CO2 tank uses

This 20lb aluminium CO2 tank uses a siphon tube (dip tube or educator tube) is used with all the CO2 jets. It is the smallest CO2 tank offered by CryoFX. This CO2 tank has a limited supply time of forty seconds of liquid CO2 supply. This CO2 tank is used for any application which uses CGA320 style CO2 valve, which requires CO2. The presence of the valve is an indication that when the cylinder is used in its upright position, it disperses liquid CO2. When this CO2 tank is used together with CryoFX CO2 cannon or the LED CO2jet, it disperses liquid CO2 needed for the CO2 Jets to function.

The 35lb CO2 tank without a siphon tube is used for all CO2 mobile CO2 special smoke effects due to its light weight features. This CO2 tank made of aluminium is also used for small productions. It has an output limit time of a minute, offering 25 bursts of 4 to 5 seconds each.

The 50lb aluminium CO2 tank uses the CO2 Canons and handheld Cryo guns to spray the crowds. It can be used for any application that requires CO2 in any region that uses CGA320 style CO2 valve. This is the most preferred CO2 tanks for parties, productions and other events. This CO2 tank has a usage limit of a minute and twenty five seconds of liquid CO2 supply.

The 75lb CO2 tank made of steel is used with stage CO2 cannons and party canons CO2 systems. It is best used where there is limited or no movement. This cylinder is long lasting. This CO2 tank has an output limit time of two minutes and fifteen seconds of liquid CO2 supply.

The 100lb CO2 tank made of steel is used with stage CO2 canons and party cannon CO2 systems. It is best used where there are minimal movements. This tank has an output limit time of two minutes and forty five seconds.

The largest CO2 tank, the 135lb made of steel has enough capacity to last you through your whole event. It is used or cooling the dance floor at high-energy parties and events. Being the largest CO2 tank offered by CryoFX, it provides massive output, delivering more plumes of CO2 smoke as compared to the smaller CO2 tanks.

CO2 Tank Uses: From Welding to Carbonation

CO2 tank uses go beyond just carbonating your favorite drink. This gas is versatile and can be found in different industries, including welding, aquariums, and fire suppression. In this article, we will explore the various applications of CO2 tanks.

CO2 Tank for Kegerator

For beer lovers, a CO2 tank for a kegerator is a must-have. A kegerator is a beer dispenser that keeps the beer cold and under pressure. CO2 gas is used to push the beer out of the keg and into the dispenser. This method ensures that the beer remains fresh and carbonated until the last drop. With a CO2 tank for your kegerator, you can enjoy your favorite brews in the comfort of your home.

Welding with CO2 Tank

CO2 is also commonly used in welding applications. It is a cost-effective gas that can be used in both MIG and TIG welding. In MIG welding, the CO2 gas is used as a shielding gas to protect the weld from atmospheric contamination. The CO2 gas also helps to stabilize the arc, making it easier to weld thicker materials. In TIG welding, CO2 is used as a cooling gas to prevent the tungsten electrode from melting.

CO2 Tank for Aquarium

Aquarium enthusiasts also use CO2 tanks to provide their aquatic plants with the necessary carbon dioxide. Plants in aquariums require CO2 for photosynthesis, which helps them grow and thrive. A CO2 tank is connected to a diffuser, which releases the gas into the water, providing the plants with the CO2 they need.

Carbonation with CO2 Tank

CO2 tanks are also used to carbonate different beverages, including water, soda, and beer. The CO2 gas is added to the liquid to create bubbles and give the drink its signature fizz. Carbonating drinks at home is becoming increasingly popular, with more people investing in CO2 tanks and soda makers.

CO2 Tank for Paintball Gun

Paintball enthusiasts use CO2 tanks to power their guns. The gas is stored in the tank at high pressure and then released to propel the paintball out of the gun's barrel. The use of CO2 tanks in paintball is safer and more environmentally friendly than using compressed air tanks.

Dry Ice with CO2 Tank

Dry ice is created by freezing CO2 gas at high pressure. It is used in a variety of applications, including transportation of perishable goods, cleaning, and entertainment. In transportation, dry ice is used to keep goods cold during transit. In cleaning, dry ice blasting is used to remove dirt and debris from different surfaces. In entertainment, dry ice is used to create a smoke effect, such as in theatrical productions.

Fire Suppression with CO2 Tank

CO2 tanks are also used in fire suppression systems. When activated, the CO2 gas is released into the fire, displacing oxygen and suffocating the flames. CO2 fire suppression systems are commonly used in server rooms, where water or foam-based systems would damage sensitive equipment.

Medical Uses of CO2 Tank

In the medical industry, CO2 tanks are used for various applications, including anesthesia, respiratory therapy, and laparoscopic surgery. In anesthesia, CO2 is used to induce and maintain general anesthesia. In respiratory therapy, CO2 is used to stimulate breathing in patients with breathing difficulties. In laparoscopic surgery, CO2 is used to inflate the abdomen, creating more space for the surgeon to work.

CO2 Tank for Beverage Dispensing

CO2 tanks are commonly used in beverage dispensing systems, such as soda fountains and beer taps. The CO2 gas is used to push the liquid through the dispensing system and into the glass. CO2
